In order to estimate the speed of water passing through a square pipe, a value known as flow rate can be calculated. Translating to how many gallons can travel within the confines of any particular minute, this metric is found by observing GPM (Gallons Per Minute).
A number of aspects can change the velocity of water passing through a square tube, for example the width of the tube, the building material used in its construction, the water pressure, and the temperature of the liquid.
The amount of fluid a pipe can transport is dependent on its size. If the pipe is larger in diameter, it will boast a higher flow rate than one with a smaller opening, since more liquid can journey through it.

Generally, pipes generated from more permeable substances will experience a greater rate of flow than their counterparts crafted from substances with less permeability. Widening the pipe, utilizing a more porous material, escalating water pressure, and dropping the temperature of the liquid, can all lead to an increased flow rate. Conversely, to reduce flow rate one can narrow the pipe, pick a less absorptive material, decrease the water pressure, or turn up the temperature of the liquid.
